9/19-2

I either have 2-3 teeth that need root canals or I have a cyst forming on my lower jaw bone. Each root canal costs $580 and needs to be paid in full - in advance. Did I mention that I don't have dental insurance? That thought keeps coming into my mind because as of two months ago, I did have it. 23 months ago (9 months + 14 months = 23 months), I didn't have dental insurance and only paid for half of a root canal. I never finished it because I left New Hampshire and moved to Texas, where I took on the, "Pregnant in Texas" moniker.

The infection in my mouth has now spread to all of the "vulnerable" areas (i.e. teeth with previous fillings). I'm back on amoxicillin and for those that may not remember (3/16/05) how I got pregnant, well, let's just say that it involved more of the same kind of medication. Just for grins and giggles, I checked that little folded up piece of paper that the pharmacist and drug manufacturers slip into the bag with your prescription. Here is what is listed under "Drug Interactions" for amoxicillin:

"This medication may decrease the effectiveness of combination-type birth control pills. This can result in pregnancy. You may need to use an additoinal form of reliable birth control while using this medication. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details."

That's fun. Thanks for the warning.

amoxicillin should also come with a warning that says that it could cause a full body rash to erupt - that's what happened to me after my first root canal.
Root canals are totally expensive, but I think that crowns are the bigger kick in the butt. those mfers are expensive! Do you have to get those too? I hope not. For me, crowns and root canals always come in pairs.
Hang in there. You, me, and stone's throw can all be toothless by our 30th birthdays together!

Nice - can't wait wildflower. Maybe we can get a group discount on Polygrip, or start our own organic business targeted at under 35 year-old denture wearers.

Amoxicillin should also warn aganist diarehea (sp?). I am currently on amoxicillian for teeth problems as well. I have dental insurance and I am paying $335/each for my root canals. I had one in July and will have two next week. Not fun. I have decided I am in the wrong business. Dentists make a killing on what they charge for stuff.

GOD!!!!!!!!!! I HATE THAT YOU ARE HAVING TO GO THROUGH THIS!!!!! I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT! Something bad happened with my root canal, and at the moment, I can't even see straight. I called my dentist in Bristol, and no one seems to know what to do. Or how to care. I am going to a chiropractor tomorrow because somehow this has also caused my face to be totally mis-alligned and incredibly painful. I am so sorry. I hope that Z is being exceptionally kind to you.

Hooray! Teeth problems. I just finished having two root canals done and will soon be going in for the crowns. My dental/dentist problems started almost a year ago when I had a nervous breakdown (complete with sobbing, and I mean sobbing) right in the middle of the dentist's office.
Amoxicillin also makes me break out in a full body rash. And since caroline already started the diarrhea topic I'll say watch out for clindamycin. That's what I was given after my root canals (for an infection) and I had those "side effects" for a week. Hazzah!
I'm so sorry you have to go through this.
